Post Nasal Drip Upsetting Stomach

Post nasal drip upsetting stomach may be something that you're dealing with and don't even realize it.

Over the years, I have suffered from having a stomach ache from post nasal drip and never realized that it was causing my stomach to hurt until suggested by a wonderful nurse quite some years back.

Though everyone's experience is different, it's the feeling of my sinuses being inflamed, not being able to blow my nose while also having mucus drain down my throat.  Ugh! It's so awful because when the nasal sinuses are inflamed the mucus has no where to go but down the back of the throat.

Post Nasal Drip Upsetting Stomach Symptoms

When post nasal drip is upsetting your stomach, symptoms vary from individual as anything else but my symptoms consist of a scratchy, sore throat.  My throat starts to become a bit raw especially if the mucus is not flushed out.  Again, it's really difficult to blow my nose because my sinuses are so inflamed.

There have been a couple of times of when I have actually lost my voice due to the extreme mucus drainage.

The mucus literally sits there and of course eventually drains down to the belly causing me to have an upset stomach from mucus. It's the worse!

Post Nasal Drip Upsetting Stomach Remedy

I've found that the best way to remedy post nasal drip upset stomach combination is to nip the drainage in the bud before it gets worse.

For me this means using the neti pot which is so crucial!

I pretty much suffered from post nasal drip and sinusitis all of the time until my allergist at the time told me that it was a must that I use it.  And I've been using one every since.  It's been about 7 years now and I really do swear by them.

Also, either taking a natural or otc antihistamine helps.  I do both but found that at times I have to take an antihistamine twice a day in the heavy pollen months.

Post Nasal Drip Upsetting Stomach Tips

These post nasal drip upsetting stomach tips may or may not provide some relief.  It's important to do what works best for you.

  1. Think about using a humidifier.  The humidifier will keep the air moist which in return will you keep your nasal passages the same.
  2. Are there any allergens present?  Determine what is causing you to have a reaction to cause excess mucus production.
  3. It could be from dust.  I know as much as I dust, it still accumulates like crazy.  You could be having a reaction to those pesky dust mites.  Remove the dust mites on a regular basis to see if this helps.
  4. Air filter.  Have you changed your air filter lately?
  5. I love to use a natural nasal spray called Xylitol.  It helps keep my nasal passage open and I use it as often as I would like. And again it's natural which is a win!
  6. Flush, flush, flush your sinuses and again use a natural spray like Xylitol to keep the passages clear.

These are just some tips to start out with and to ponder.  Definitely conduct your own research to find other tips you can find.
