Nasal Congestion Remedies

Having nasal congestion is no fun! The feeling of not being able to breathe through your nose is certainly not the greatest.  I've been there and done that and wanted to share some of my nasal congestion remedies.  


Congestion Remedies That Have Worked For Me

As a longtime allergy sufferer, congestion has always followed behind.  

It's the worse feeling..not being able to breathe through my nose.  As well as sounding nasally.  

But luckily, I've discovered some wonderful nasal congestion remedies which are:

  • simply blowing nose
  • neti pot
  • digestive enzymes (yep!)
  • probiotics 
  • detox
  • decongestant (sparingly)

I'm sure some of these remedies are not what you expected.  lol.


Nasal Congestion Remedies Explained

1)Blowing my nose should be pretty obvious but for some such as kiddos, this simple task is not always.  

If you have kiddos, I'm sure you can relate to the constant sucking up the mucus when obviously they can tell they need to blow their little noses.

2) The neti pot, I simply love.  It has helped me tremendously to manage my stomach pain by simply keeping my sinuses clear by way of my netti.


Congestion Remedies Explained (Part 2)

Over the past year or so, I've been able to make a correlation between my nasal congestion and my digestive system.  Yes!  Crazy, huh!  But what I discovered is that they are actually connected in a very huge way.

When I'm not digesting my food properly, I notice that I am also congested.  When my digestive system is flowing properly, I notice that I am not.  

That's why its so important to ensure toxins are leaving the body on a regular basis.  When the gut isn't balanced, the whole body is unbalanced. When toxins are not leaving the gut, this is when inflammation sets in as well.    

For me, there were multiple factors over time that contributed to my gut not being aligned:

  • too many antibiotics
  • hormonal imbalance
  • diastis recti  (page coming soon) 
  • seasonal and food allergies


Balance Your Gut, Fix Your Congestion

When my belly is balanced, congestion is non-existent.  But when things are moving kinda of slow, that is when congestion surely rears its ugly head.  

The gut makes up over 85% of our immune system that's why its so important to take care of it.  

If someone is feeling sickly a lot, he/she should look to their gut for answers.
