Mucus Upset Stomach Treatment (Five Tips That May Be Helpful)

Okay, first let me start off by saying to please, please contact your doctor if you have not done so.  It's important to be sure that there is no serious underlying issues going on.

But if you have done that, like I did but still was lost as what to do and did not want to be prescribed a ton a medication for it to not work, please do read on.

Also keep in mind, that we are all different and that it make take something different to work for you.

This is a matter of putting an idea in your head and having you ponder other solutions that you might not have thought of.

So here are five things that tend to work for me.

Mucus Upset Stomach Treatment Tip #1

I start getting the mucus out of my body by using the neti pot, and or taking a decongestant. I know this may sound strange to use a neti pot for stomach pain but this has worked for me.

Typically, when I use my neti pot, I have some nasal congestion as well.  And when I have a lot of nasal congestion, the mucus drains into my gut.  When I use the neti pot and then blow out the excess mucus, I can feel the mucus leaving my stomach, which results in me passing gas. This is the best feeling ever!!!

I look at what I ate in the past few days to determine if there was something that I might have had a sensitivity or intolerance to. I will either avoid or limit my intake of this food.

My advice is to keep a food journal.

Also, keep track of how much your sugar intake is and don't discount food/beverages that you have been having for years.  It is possible to develop an intolerance to something at any given moment.

Mucus Upset Stomach Treatment #3

I ensure that I am taking all of my supplements that have helped me to keep my gut and overall body healthy and balanced.  (Now this will definitely vary from each individual so please consult your physician if you need assistance with determining what would be best)

My go to supplements are

  • probiotics
  • digestive enzymes (with each meal)
  • Omega 3 fish oils
  • Vitamin D
  • Magnesium

Mucus Upset Stomach Treatment #4

I use eat foods like garlic, ginger and apple cider vinegar to help with inflammation.  I also love lemon.  I tend to drink a lot of lemon tea.  I also recently purchased a lemon tea with ginger that also has probiotics.  This is a win!

When using apple cider vinegar, be sure to purchase the Braggs brand and be sure to dilute it.  You can even make a tea.  Add some honey and sip away.  This helps with restoring the gut's pH among other things.

Mucus Upset Stomach Treatment #5

Drink lots and lots of water.  I mean lots of water.  Did I say lots? This helps flush toxins out of the body which is important to always drink water.  If you're bad at this, trust me, you're not alone but there's always room to improve.

I've come a long way I must say.  I take water to work everyday in my water bottle.  Do I always drink the entire thing...uh, no but I do my best and that's all that matters.
